Patients Rising Comments on Kaiser Permanente’s Treatment Barriers Impacting Dilbert Creator and Other Cancer Patients

Terry Wilcox, the co-founder and Chief Mission Officer of Patients Rising, issued the following statement in response to Kaiser Permanente of Northern California blocking Dilbert creator Scott Adams from accessing a life-saving cancer treatment, Pluvicto.

“Patients Rising commends President Donald J. Trump for intervening in the case of Scott Adams. The President is saving his life.”

“Every day, patients make the same plea. But providers tell them to wait, call back, stay on hold, write another letter, waste another precious day. Scott Adams is doing the right thing for him, but the artist is also illustrating that the rest of the patients in his position don’t know the President of the United States. It shouldn’t take a call from the President to access the care you need – when you need it.”

“We believe the Trump administration understands what’s at stake and can craft a solution that breaks down inexplicable insurance barriers and matches the right patient — not just Scott Adams — with the right treatment and at the right time.”
