WASHINGTON, DC – Patients Rising, a national patient and caregiver resource and advocacy organization, today announced Always on Call, its new streaming video podcast series for caregivers, by caregivers.
The aim of the new show is to connect caregivers with other caregivers and establish a place where those caring for loved ones with chronic disease can share ideas and tips related to the challenges – and rewards – of caregiving. According to the CDC, over 50 million Americans give unpaid care to a loved one. The show debuted today and will be available bi-weekly for free on Apple Podcasts and on YouTube.
“Patients Rising is an organization that provides education and resources for the whole patient journey, and those who walk beside them,” said Terry Wilcox, Co-Founder and CEO of Patients Rising. “Caregivers often report feeling isolated when providing round-the-clock care, so we created a go-to resource caregivers can access anywhere at any time in their busy schedule on their mobile device and feel connected to others in shared experiences.”
Wilcox is also a caregiver to a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Always on Call is hosted by Kris McCabe, a 34-year-old woman who is a full-time caregiver for her grandmother, Mary, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. McCabe interviews other caregivers on specific aspects of the job, starting with Carlos Olivas III, who speaks with McCabe about his unique journey as a male caregiver.
“Caregiving can be unpredictable, especially when your loved one lives with a disease with no cure. This show will walk you through the wonderful surprises of caregiving and how it can change lives,” said McCabe.
McCabe also creates informational resources for caregivers and hosts live chats on her TikTok account, @lifewithgrams.
